I'm afraid that the "Published URL" is supposed to be the URL of the page where you've embedded the document viewer -- which is also the page that we link all (public) search results on documentcloud.org to.
You can see this in action by visiting documentcloud.org/public, searching for your published document, and double-clicking it.
The "Original Document" link is to get ahold of the PDF file itself, and not to view a webpage.
You can already do some advanced searches and we’ll add more when the next version of Solr is out.
Take a look at
http://www.documentcloud.org/help/searching for documentation.
We're using Solr/Lucene in the back-end to handle full text searches. With the current version of Solr, you can do regular searches that must match all terms:
You can quote literal phrases to look for:
geithner "Bernie Madoff"
And you can exclude terms from your search results by using "not", or a minus sign.
geithner NOT madoff
In a future version of Solr, which we'll use when available, better support for advanced searching is planned.
